Bunnings BBQ's are back on - Wangaratta Lions have conducted 2 so far this year, with the next one on Sunday January 31st
Currently all BBQ's are being conducted at the end of the garden section.
One of the largest truck convoys seen in the northeast for many years stopped overnight in Wangaratta Friday night Feb 7th 2020, on its way from Timboon to Corryong. This hay run was organised by the Lions club of Timboon.
The Wangaratta showgrounds was the site where most of the trucks were parked overnight, and the Lions club of Wangaratta, having been in contact with the Timboon Lions for some time, provided a full breakfast on Saturday morning at the Lions shed at the showgrounds. In the 2 hours before the convoy departed at 9AM.over 150 peolple were served breakfast.

From Friday 3rd January to Wednesday 15th 2020, the Lions Club's shed was used as the main catering, and meeting place at the Wangaratta showgrounds bushfire evacuation centre
This photo was Monday 6th lunchtime, with many evacuees enjoying a plate of chicken and salad, or a pie.
Wednesday evening, those in attendance were treated to a roast.
On the busiest days, up to 90 people were served lunch, and up to 140 dinners.
Monetary donations can be made direct to the Lions Club of Wangaratta.
100% of all monies received by the club will be applied to assist people directly affected by the bushfires, in the greater Wangaratta area.

The photo below was taken at the main intersection in Wangaratta at about 2 PM on Sunday 5th January. the day after the city reached 41.5 C, The wind was now coming from the south at aboy 17 C, and bringing a lot of smoke.
Australia Day 2020
With perfect weather, a large crowd turned up to the 2020 Australia day celebrations - and the breakfast afterwards. Regrettably due to covid restrictions, the 2021 celebrations will be held indoors at the WPAC - by invitation only. There will be no breakfast.

Operation of the Lions Apex Road Safety School - over 1000 children attendances each year
Many BBQ's as general fundraisers, or for specific purposes
Our club meets every 2 weeks for dinner and usually a guest speaker.
Currently meetings are held at the Wangaratta Club, in Victoria parade, Wangaratta (CBD area)

Lions Christmas Cakes are well known throughout the community and well appreciated for their quality and their value for money.
National sales of cakes is around $5.5 million making about $2.0 million available for Sight, Health, Welfare and Humanitarian Projects.
One of the major Projects of the Lions club of Wangaratta is the sale of Christmas Cakes. These are usually available from early November each year - contact one of the club's members. Cakes are also available from a number of outlets in Wangaratta- including McDonald O'Brien plumbing in Muntz St, Toyworld, Flynns Mensland, Flynns inland and surf, and Westpac - all situated in Murphy St
